Raksha
Dori has always been about introducing Indian textiles and
its stories to the younger generation. And its always special when they are
your source of inspiration. The second in our series of DoriLoves is Raksha
Yadalam. All of 20, set to conquer the
world. I have personally known her five years, I have seen her from being to
teenager to this confident young woman, learning business and excelling in her
studies as well as being a co-founder of a social startup- Food for thought. Having
had the idea struck her in one of the family holidays, she started Food for
thought with her best friend, Vishaka. Food for thought is a social startup
which provides food for the under privileged kids and helps them learn skills
which would enable them to make revenue in the future. It is not just donation
of food that they are mainly aimed at but also in giving the children the
experience that they can dream of. Their Diwali drive had them teaching kids to
make candles, they have gone to watch movies, to restaurants where they could
order anything off the menu, the experiences which the kids will always be fond
of. Raksha and Vishaka are involved to the fullest in the activities. They are
not just looking for donors and enterprises and get help from, they are also on
site, cooking food, leading the drives and talking to the kids and bringing a
smile on their face.
The younger days, the college years, are mostly focused on
one’s self and their future. Hardly do we come by anyone who wants to get down
and do something for others. The conviction and hard work it takes does not
come easy when there are so many distractions. DoriLoves the humility and the
drive to give back to the society that Raksha has. With time, It will only grow
and we can’t wait to see her be a boss and conquer the world!
