Su'i

           

Designing for men has been on our list for a long, long time. As a designer it is very challenging to design for men. The limitations, the structure are difficult to apprehend the first time. We were also on the lookout for the fabric we wanted to work with. It definitely had to be handwoven and ethically made. Recently we were introduced to Malkha. Malkha is fabric woven in Telangana, it is natural dyed with indigo, hand-spun and handwoven. The texture of the fabric is raw and organic. The fabric gets softer and better with wash and wear, which is perfect for men’s clothing. The first set of designs are in classic silhouettes with little detailing in them. We named the men’s line Su’i, which is Hindi for needle as a counterpart to Dori.
