Reinvent
reinvent
riːɪnˈvɛnt
change (something) so much that it appears to be entirely new.
Reinvent. Reawaken. Revive. These are the words every designer thrives for. This is how artists evolve. By thriving to be better, to constantly innovate, to reinvent. But there is always a quiet debate about reinventing when it comes to traditions, in this case traditional craft. Some traditional artisans who are working on their craft from generations believe that there shouldn't be any changes in the methods or materials of making the product. Some even believe even a slight change is impossible. And then there are some who constantly innovate with designs, with whatever exposure they have. As designers working with traditional handlooms which have been done the same way for decades is quite challenging. For Dori, we maintain the traditions. The weaving technique, the exclusive border are all the same. Including the embroidery designs. They are geometrical temple designs which are being done from many, many years. Our way of reinventing is through silhouettes. It not only shows the weaves in a new light but also opens up a world of chances. This Dungaree is one of those chances.
