Inhibitions

“A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others.”

― Ayn Rand

There is something special about things made with heart. It will always stand out in the crowded markets. Things made without expectation, without an agenda, things made just by the pure love for making them. Just like food cooked at home, the initials embroidered on linens, crocheted baby socks, they always bring a warm smile. I once saw a young girl wearing beautiful intricately beaded anklet with floral skirt and old metal jewellery. Ironically, she was selling strings of bead necklaces but they were all the same and what she thought will sell well. She had made the anklet for herself just for the love of it. She didn't have to think whether it will sell or if the colours are coordinated or if she can make money off it. And that's what made it beautiful.

Nowadays when we make art, we think too much. We think too much about the end product. We are scared if it will meet others expectation, if it will be accepted by others. We feel we are constantly judged. We have to let go of these inhibitions, they only bind us. They constrain our thoughts, our creativity. We have to stop holding back. Make art without reticent. Let go. And watch yourself fly.
